When I first saw it, I wondered if the person who recommended it was my friend or my enemy. If no one had ever thought of those terrible things before, now the idea was out for the copycats. I was amazed at how the most repulsive human being could become so endearing by the end of the story. But over time, the iconic scenes of this movie have come back to me again and again. If you rate a movie or story by how often it comes back to memory, this would rate among the top.

This is a tale of resiliency. If you like historical fiction, fantasy and magic, this has it and so much more. It is about the status of women and violence against women. It is about humane justice, ethics and trust. How can you trust anyone when everyone you have ever known had physically or emotionally abused you? Very engaging. I couldn't stop reading until I finished. It is labeled volume 1 in a series. I will now search for volume 2.
