When I first turned this game on I was extremely disappointed at the performance. For me the initial shock and distracting nature of the frame rate and poping characters and shadows nearly made me put the game down and stop playing after only 20 minutes of game play. I have picked it back up and played it many more hours and find the game enjoyable and would rate it 4-5 stars if not for the poor performance. A warning to those who turn off auto save...don't. I turned it off as I wanted to make sure if I found a shiny it would not auto save just as I accidentally KO it. Unfortunately I have had the game completely freeze twice and lost a bunch of progress. I have never had a switch game freeze on me ever and I expect more from a full price game. So my final review is, if you like pokemon, get it, but don't pay full price unless game freak fixes the performance.
