I disagree with all the commentators who decry this as 'woke'. It's the opposite. Teaching people that the 19th century was a time when black people and women were treated with respect and had near equal status is worse than anachronistic, it's a shameful lie. Whitewashing history isn't going to help anyone understand where we are today I'm not even going to even start on why the hell make a series about a book and then pay almost no attention to the original content...

KK is no Colette. Colette was earthy, sensual, funny and very French. KK is uptight posh English. The whole film lacks the depth and intensity that any film about Colette should have. Merchant Ivory lite.
