I'm honestly surprised at all the 5 star reviews. As a fan of the original anime, the storyline was pretty well followed. However, I felt like every scene was taking place in a cheap set built in a small room. The Dark Tournament featured no one else other than the main 2 teams, and didnt take place in an arena, but moreso dark, weird lit back-lots. Honestly I think Cowboy Bebop did a better adaptation if I'm honest.
As far as the characters go, I think they were pretty well done besides Kuwabara. Kuwabara is not portrayed as the comic relief lover-boy like he is in the anime, which I think could have been useful here in this show.
Overall it feels like it was done by people who have actually seen the anime and know the important factors, but it still has a cheap feel to it that distracts you with a lot of cut corners.
