Where to begin...... I'm sorely disappointed in this film. I'll start at the end.
In the second post-credits scene we see Eddie Brock/Venom sitting at a bar and exchanging words with a bartender about "a purple alien" who made half the universe disappear, among other things. This exchange helped us understand that Eddie Brock/Venom had also been imported into the Marvel universe we're familiar with. Suddenly though, Eddie starts to dissipate which let's viewers know that he is not from the Marvel universe we know, but part of Venom sticks around at the end, presumably to signal to viewers that we will be seeing Venom in the future. First problem with this is, if Eddie Brock/Venom are from a different universe, then ALL of them should have been zapped back when Dr. Strange fixed the spell. There is no reason that part of Venom would "mistakenly" not be affected by the spell and be left behind. Second of all, there is nothing in the Venom movies that necessarily doubts hat Eddie could be operating in the same universe as the rest of our Marvel superheroes from the last decade or so, so Sony just ruined that for all of us.
Second issue (and I really won't get into this since it's already done so what do I honestly even care at this point) is that they resolved the multiverse issue in the same film. NWH should have left the sinister six villains imported into this universe and therefore set up future Spider-Man and Marvel movies to include some or all of these villains that we've already come to know. This way the story post original Avengers story line will follow the Spider-Man story line more closely and thereby allow the Marvel heroes we know are out there to be invited back into major story lines in the future (we saw Daredevil, which means Kingpin which means Allister Smyhte... also new Morbius film... like, cmon Sony seriously how could you mess this up THIS bad....). If anyone reading this watched the OG Spider-Man cartoon growing up on Fox Kids then you know what I'm talking about. This too considering that Marvel has plans for future Fantastic 4 and X-Men movies that will be brought into the Marvel universe Stan created.
I have more to say, but it won't change anything anyway at this point....
Honestly, just please do better.
