When Lucero's "Nobody's Darlings" came out, Ben Nichols made sure to footnote that the song of the same name drew inspiration from the Lyons photography book. Between the lyrical homage of the song and specific scenes portrayed brilliantly in the film, the Nichols brothers capture so much with their work, all lovingly rendered. If you know the song (also featured in the end credits, so don't bail too early), you'll see visuals all thru film in reference. Kathy says after her first ride that it took her breath away; the way this scene plays is like a religious experience. Got to my feels, and definite goosebumps, from Blake to Brando to Ginsberg. Full circle.
