I spotted this book at my school library and let me tell you, I am SO GLAD that I chose to read it.
If You Could See the Sun follows Alice Sun, a high-achieving student who absolutely hates her academic rival, Henry Li. However, as the story progresses, the two end up joining forces and slowly but surely, fall in love.
I love how Ann Liang chooses to capture the two characters. Not only are they filled with intense emotions that I can relate to, but throughout the novel, I felt as if I simply couldn’t put the book down. Besides the whole turning invisible thing, I could really connect with Alice and her life.
Funnily enough, it turns out that my former academic rival (who is now a good friend of mine), read this book too and loved it immensely. In fact, we both went on to read I Hope this Doesn’t Find You and This Time It’s Real, which we enjoyed just as much as this one.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to teens looking for a fun rom-com, enemies-to-lovers type story. However I will say, if you’re looking for a more sophisticated novel with an even stronger love-hate relationship, Twisted Hate is also an amazing book!
I hope this helps!
