I actually really liked it, the satire is excellent even if it doesn't make you laugh, I don't think it is supposed to be funny, it's not designed to be comedic, it's supposed to be critical in a natural "day-to-day situation" way, although not so bluntly. The fact that so many people are criticising it says a whole effing lot about how we think as a society, we should not expect to laugh from our ridiculous interests and the wrong doings in our ways, which is exactly what the movie depicts, specially not when this is leading to a devastating future that ultimately kills everything in our world. The message is clear and strong and it is a call to all of us, to not be so gullible, to listen, to think collective and to act for the good of everyone, leaving our selfish thoughts, reaaons and acts aside. The creators and cast did an excellent job and it was such a great call to scrap0 the happy ending.
