It’s beautifully written and I was fully engrossed in the story until the very end. I wanted to keep reading The Vaster Wilds hoping that there may be a morsel of good news but there was nothing. It was just a long saga of a girls painful and very lonely journey and her life in the wild. The girls continuous struggles were so repetitive that on a couple of occasions I lost my place but it didn't matter as it felt like I had already read it. I liked the girls bravery, her love of nature and could relate to the feeling of utter despair at times in life but there was never any good news or change - her experience continued on repeat. The girls horrific memories continued to haunt her during her arduous journey, her never ending illness/injuries and lonely life. She continued without any help or hope coming her way and I actually found the story indulgent and not considerate of the reader unless you enjoy reading painfully sad stories!
