This was the worst big budget movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if IT knows why it exists. No one asked for this movie in 2023 when these visual effects are par for the course. None of the characters made me feel anything for them. There’s no clear message the movie is trying to express (parents love their children, I guess?).
It doesn’t explain anything from the first movie, which is arrogant. The screenwriting seemed to have focused on answering the question “just how barbaric would we be in the future, with more technology?” The story was carried—and a sequel made possible—along by a child with no clear motivations or moral compass, which is lazy as hell.
Cool visual effects, cool battle scenes. That’s all I can give it.
