To be honest, it was a generally terrible movie. While the visuals could be astounding, that's not the actual reason we ever going to Star wars. It was a bonus, that we knew, but overall it was the magic of the universe that caught our imagination. This movie takes a lot of political and social views, experimental and foreign ideas, and things that don't quite follow the nature of Star wars and tries to stubbornly graft them in where they don't belong.
It did not quite follow the spirit of Star wars, it was not a very good movie, and his the capital reason that the sequel trilogy was nowhere near as good as the prequels, or the originals.
I miss when lucasfilm was under the charge of George Lucas (never thought I would say that lol)
