Gotham takes all the best pieces from the Batman legends and makes them its own. The character development is very strong, especially with the villains. While I didn't like all of the characters, I do believe they all added depth to the show. Gotham has been able to use the quirkiness from the original TV show, the darkness of the Christian Bale films and the absurdness from TAS.
