Where do I even start?
The Book Thief was also a school project for me, and as the due date grew closer, I decided to finally put my misery to rest because I thought it would be another one of those boring historical books.
Boy, was I wrong...
It begins with Liesel's traumatic backstory, which is narrated by Death. It continues with her new family and her newfound friendship with Rudy. Oh, Rudy. He was one of the most social and loving characters, and I cried at the end. She meets different people in her life, and her devotion to words is inspiring to think beyond. Hans Hubermann is one of the most selfless people in this book. One of the most outstanding characters. And while Rosa didn't build up much of a reputation initially, she has always loved and cared for Leisel.
I have never had real tears for a book. EVER. This was a truly magical and historical book.
5 stars all the way. Would recommend.
