I gave the show a generous chance because I liked The Big Bang Theory, and even liked the Sheldon character on it, but the character of the younger Sheldon in this show is written simply and utterly unlikeable. The show caters to his character as if we are supposed to be rooting for him, but it's virtually impossible to because he is simply so self centered, conceited and generally, seemingly without even a modicum of remorse for such - and then, in virtually every episode, instead of ever learning humility, he is rewarded for his narcisstic behavior. I can only guess we're supposed to automatically root for him because we know he grows up to be the adult Sheldon, but that's just not enough. It's lazy writing and it makes for a dull, and at times just annoying television experience. If it gets better in the later seasons I will never know because I just can't get past the couple dozen episodes I have patiently sat through, hoping it would change or get better, but if anything, it only seems to get worse as it goes along.
