The travesty is that the government’s conduct that was repeatedly chastised by the courts and the Canadian government and the actual killers were never convicted. Leonard Peltier, regardless of whether a reader concludes him innocent or possibly some form of aiding and abetting, should be released after 74 years in prison. He has overserved any sentence given to any similarly situated defendant, and he is paying the price for others and for government misconduct.
