I honestly loved this weird, quirky, fantastic little film. Is it perfect? No. The accents *were* iffy and it's cliche in many ways, but it was definitely charming, and it transported me and made me laugh. The plot twist was hilarious. Childhood trauma? Misguided affinity? I don't know and don't care. I'm watching it again and again.
