Absolute joke of a book. 1 star for content, but I give it 2 simply because it gave me a hearty laugh on a rainy afternoon. Her attempts at explaining the nuances and meanings behind some of these pieces is truly something to be admired - pulling something from nothing, if you will.
Attempts to try and show how a 5 year old COULDN'T have created x, y, and z, is frankly beyond ridiculous, as Hodge in her explanations accidentally seems to prove that, in fact, a 5 year old could indeed have created this "art".
To say that this book highlights that modern art is actually the result of sophistication and "serious talent" is a ridicule of actual artists, and to give any meaning to the pieces mentioned in the book at all is a joke.
If you want a joke book, well worth the purchase. Otherwise, this book can find a happy place in the bin alongside the modern art.
