Probably one of the worst books of DB. As expected, the dead body count by the end of the book was over 10. Not sure why he has to keep killing so many characters in his books, most of them pointless. The fact that no one did a DNA test to determine who raped Alex despite her being an influential politician's daughter is just unbelievable, also the fact that no one knew about her friendship with the perpetrator in a small town where everyone supposedly knows everything about everyone. Travis only had to ask Alex the question. I am sure her memory loss of the event couldn't have stopped her from recalling who her friends were prior to the incident. Not only does he not ask, he is also unable to identify the vehicle which was leaving the location of the incident. Not a great detective, is he? The fact that the perpetrator or the accomplice did not bother to kill Alex, but went around murdering all connected to her to hide them from being identified is appalling and hard to take in. DB is slipping. Is he trying desperately for a TV series deal?
