I almost didn’t make it to the end of episode 4 purely because Stephen Graham is such an intense character (why I never watch any of his stuff). I decided today to give it a go to finish it off and see where we ended up.
This is the most pointless series I have ever watched and in no way depicts the reality of a scenario like this.
Lawyer encourages dad to advise his son on what to say while lawyer sits back and lets him incriminate himself.
There is no end to ANY part of the story.
For example the boy who said in episode 3 that the knife was his and he was promptly arrested but then we never hear of him again.
The girl who beat up that boy (Ryan) saying “you killed my friend” was never taken in for questioning to explain her statement which could potentially free and innocent person.
Everyone was tiptoeing around the school kids and no investigation was done.
They made a big hoo haa about Jamie’s trainers in the first episode but they never featured again as any part of an investigation.
And by god, the long winded (we’re talking maybe 10mins each) conversations between mum and dad about raising their son was superfluous and I had to fast forward through them as I realised nothing relevant was being said.
And then, it ended.
Left with no clue about outcome and reason for it.
I wouldn’t waste my time had I known how dull this would be - and stressful at the bits where Stephen Graham was losing his sh!t.
It’s a shame as it had the makings of being something great and also sending out a message about the reality of these situations which happen in our society all too often.
