I felt uncomfortable with the undercurrents of violence in the beginning of Wild Houses by Colin Barrett.
But, very quickly, I was absorbed as the characters formed. I enjoyed the Irish slang and references as well.
I think Colin Barrett writes beautifully and would recommend this book.
