first few episodes do a fairly well job of introducing the storyline and characters. unfortunately, it goes downhill from there. heavily romanticizes child prostitution and a teacher-student relationship. i’m not one to criticize melodramatic teen-dramas, but Baby never seems to get the idea that the “secret lives” these high-schoolers face are simply off-putting. example (SPOILERS): the day after chiara kisses the old man in the club, she tells ludo it made her feel “alive.” this wouldn’t be so disgusting if the show later portrays these acts in a more negative light as a contrast to their naive thinking. some scenes do just this and it’s relieving, but they only end up romanticizing it again. the pacing makes it seem like a single episode is 3 hours. all in all, a boring and uncomfortable series by a team of adults who have no idea what it’s like to be teenagers in 2020.
