A truly exceptional performance from Saoirse Ronan and worth seeing it for that alone. Unlike the few reviewers who were bored, I found the story more than engaging, indeed riveting at times. Anyone with experience of how life's struggles with addiction have affected themselves or those close to them will have been rooting for Rona from the very start. We were cheering or despairing as she succeeded or failed at each of the challenges along the way. The film is stunning to look at, not only thanks to the beauty of Orkney but also the chaos of Rona's London. Sound and landscape play a big role so hurry to catch it on the big screen where you can immerse yourself in Rona's world. If I was stranded on an island I might well choose Papay, and if allowed just one film then I'd definitely choose The Outrun.
