Beautiful fairy tale about grief, purpose and the mysterious workings of the universe. A coworker referred to me as I have always loved M. Night Shyamalans movies. I watched for the first time the other day. I think too many people get wrapped up in the fantasy aspects and criticize it when they should be receptive to the actual message. We all have purpose and we are all connected in some way, shape or form. The universe guides us to where we need to be, don't get caught on your limiting beliefs and expectations because you may have a bigger impact on others than you truly know. The music score is truly inspiring. I dont care what anyone says this is a unique and powerful movie.

Steve Carrell is a phenomenal actor. He transformed into John E Du Pont. He had his awkward and unpredictable behavior down to a T, as we gradually but swiftly watch the character descend into madness. I grew up wrestling and this movie encapsulates a side of it very few people are aware of. Wrestling can be a dark sport. During my school years wrestling, brawls would erupt between teams if a teammate was injured, witnessed a team mate break his neck being slammed, another wrestler stabbed his own teammate in the butt with a pencil sending him to the emergency room. This is absolutely tragic for the Schultz family but I relate immensely as my brothers and I were all wrestlers. I always looked up to my brother as well. I don't believe the filmmakers intended to offend Mark by implying a relationship but rather John Du Points obsession with the brothers. Amazing movie.

Brave (2012) shares several similarities with Braveheart (1995). The titles of the movies. Merida's name closely resembles Murron, or real name Marion Braidfute(1278-1297), who was believed to be William Wallace' s wife/lover. There are old writings and poems describing how he would frequently visit her at mass and she was executed at the door of her home by harboring William and his soldiers and aiding them in escape. Marion was 19 when she died. Legend says William avenged Marion's death by killing the English sheriff and his soldiers of Lanark, setting two homes on fire in the process. Brave is set during the 10th-12th centuries which aligned with the time William Wallace wreaked havoc with England and its noblemen. William Wallace was hanged, drawn and quartered in 1305. Robert the Bruce took Williams place in Scotland's war later on against England after originally switching sides. The clan with the blue face paint is a reference to the Pict's. However they were more ancient tracing back from the 100-mid 9th centuries. In Braveheart, William Wallace and his men apply similar warpaint to symbolize the Pict's and Scotland's flag is blue and white. Good movie. Red/ blonde haired, fair skinned girls and boys need hero characters to look up to. They always see villains with those traits. Usually leads are dark haired. Nice to see a red haired girl be the hero for once.

You cannot deny Mel Gibson is a great director. Intense film about survival and perseverance. Overcoming fear. I love how the movie symbolizes richer elite societies such as the mayans(more so the Aztecs) the Aztecs were war mongers, the Mayans were more scientific and studied astrology. They were sky gazers. They both pillaged and sacrificed poorer forest villages but the Aztec did on a much greater scale. It echoes what we see today. All people will have their time then go. The new ones have theirs and so on. This land is all borrowed. We only hold it temporarily . They overused their own resources and ate each other which helped lead to the decline of the once prosperous civilization.. Jaguar paw fights his way back to his pregnant wife and son as haunting Spanish ships approach the shores.. brutal but real.

In terms of newer westerns this is one of the best ones. No Country for Old Men, the remakes True Grit and 3:10 to Yuma and Django Unchained are the best in my opinion the last 20 years. It was neat seeing Christoph Waltz play a good character when usually he plays villianous Nazis. I thought both he and Jamie Foxx had good chemistry and I wished we could've seen more of their adventures together. Gruesome violence and vulgar language is Tarantino's trademarks, a long with numerous others. He's masterful at building suspense. The entire dinner scene when Django and Dr Schultz infiltrate the plantation slowly picking up speed throughout the night. Even smaller altercations in Django Unchained had created some anxiety. Similar to Inglorious Basterds when they have a gun fight in a bar in a basement. If you grew up on westerns like I did, I believe you will really like this. The scene when Django outfoxxes the three Aussie escorts and the cart full of slaves looks on as he trick and kill them. Taking firearms, dynamite and white horse riding aggressively back to the plantation. I waited more than ten years to late to give this a chance.

In high school one of my first girlfriends would repeat lines from this movie and told me I needed to see it. I started enjoying Tarantino movies after that. Not just a hyper violent, unconventual story told in an unusual order. It tells the chaotic and greedy side of human nature. What can go wrong, will go wrong. It may seem far fetched to some, but I'm sure events occur more often than we ever know in the long nights of L.A. and other places. By nature we are animals. Greed and savagery creep and run deep. However it also tells what separates us from the animals..the boxer saves the gangster he was supposed to take a fall for when he could've left him to his fate. One half of two hitmen changes his ways from a sign and the consequences of the other who continues on..events like these are rarely fiction.

I really enjoyed the movie. It is fast paced with what's happening, the camera angles and the music to keep that anticipation build up. They want you to feel like the bank robbers or the medical and law enforcement personnel hanging on by a thread. At the same time it is a long movie that's not for shorter attention spans, those kind of people can probably get tired after the first half hour to thirty minutes. Loved the "California dreaming" scene toward the middle to end. I feel everyone did a great job it's a intense action flick. The most unbelievable part is the injured hostage cop would've died within a half hour of that chase. Just respect it for what it is. Much better than most movies from the year.

Please continue this story Zack Snyder or any others who may come across this! The hate seemed to cloud over how many people enjoyed this, BvS, Wonder Woman and Man of Steel. I love what you guys have done to the DC universe. If Henry Cavill is coming back as Superman please finish what you started! I loved how there was emphasis on these heroes portrayed as gods, this one was much darker as it should be! These are the perfect actors for these heroes. Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill. Bring it back please! Wonder Woman beheading Steppenwolf was perfect! I'd love to see Bruce and Diana's relationship explored like the comics.

Amazing cast and story! Grew up watching westerns with my dad and grandfather. This film echoes elements of the old John Wayne movie "The Searchers". Deeply exploring the European and Natives "relationship" in the 1800s. Powerful opening sequence when a settlers family is gunned down by a rogue band of Indians scalping and burning all Invaders homes they come across. Rosamund Pike and Christian Bale had a silent chemistry. I love both of them in their respective roles and many other movies. Shows the attitudes towards the natives at that time and that some soldiers deeply regret the treatment of the Indian tribes. Mental illness, grief and suicide, depression and PTSD are touched on which didn't exist then in terms of medicine and science. When an aging union soldier and a cancer stricken Chief paths cross again outside of war, both men with thick blood on their hands..So, who then is truly The Hostiles?

Channing Tatum gets alot of flack but I believe this is easily his best action movie so far. Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum have great energy together bringing a comedic and serious tone together perfectly. Tatum, a veteran who hasn't been the best father to his intelligent preteen daughter, attempts to make amends by taking her on a tour of the white house while also interviewing for a secret service position. Known not to follow through endeavors in his life he's out to prove he's changed and hes the only one who can save his daughter, the president and the world from white supremacists terrorist' taking the white house under siege. If you like movies like Diehard you'll love this.
