As a huge fan of the original book, I am hugely disappointed at Netflix version. Even if it’s a western adaptation of the Chinese original book, at least they should keep the characters recognisable somehow. They split the lead characters into so many small ones just to be so called political correct? And why they all have to screw each other or swear so much as if I’m watching a teenager soap? And the lead female role Dr Cheng, is she a merged character of Wang Miao and Cheng Xin? That doesn’t make sense to me. I feel that this adaptation is missing the soul of the book. Such a shame!
