Relatively predictable.
An arduous read, Cronin seems to expand upon every single thought that crosses his mind to an excessive end. The length of the book could be halved had he been a little more to the point.
Though on the whole, the over-arching premise is interesting, the details are unexciting and frankly tough to push through. It constantly feels like he is stalling on the story-line and instead excessively elaborating on minute and meaningless details that drag on and on.
The characters are also pretty dull.
I got through it all, but unfortunately found myself looking more forward to putting the book away than I did to discovering the conclusion.
I’m sure many will like it, just not for me. I need a bit more mystery and suspense, action or drama.
Cheers
