This docuseries is hack garbage. It's best described as the kind of low effort student film that would get you a C- in high school. Its comprised mostly of internet talking heads overplayed on top of Getty stock footage while ai-generated ominous music plays in the background. They mix in videos of YouTube lawyers commenting on the trial with people like Asmongold with no differentiation between the groups. Invariably whenever they try to talk about violent rhetoric aimed at Amber, they play the same 3 second clip that shows 6 tweets of varying severity.
There is a larger point its trying to make, saying social media manipulated the trial which is a nice way of unfairly attacking the integrity of the justice system. Especially considering how Depp and Herd had witnesses struck from the record and barred from court for
acknowledging the media environment, a fact omitted because the documentary is trying not to pretend to be a cheap drama farm that is somehow worse off than the social media commentators it wants to deride.
Its the kind of self important false narrative building that only seeks to misinform. I get the sense that Emma Cooper has less integrity and is more exploitative than the makers of Down For Love. (Seriously Netflix, sort yourself out.)Its hard to The end product is just so cheap, lazy and trashy not even its ultra false veneer of creative commons video inserts can't salvage it.
