There is not much of a plot to speak of, but basically, this is the history of two mega-church preachers that used a charismatic hippie to grow their churches exponentially and then discarded him. They both went on to become incredibly successful and wealthy. I went to a calvary chapel Christian school as a child and they tell kids they'll go to hell for eternity if they don't accept Christ. So it isn't all warm and fuzzy.
A couple other criticisms. The hippies teeth were far too white and far to perfect. The drug overdose is completely unrealistic and could lead people to believe that an OD can be resolved by simply rolling the person onto their side.
The acting is not great with the exception of Kelsey Grammar.
The movie is boring.
I would have been interested in a historical documentary about this subject made from an unbiased perspective. This movie is anything but unbiased. It is basically propaganda for Christianity, and specifically Calvary Chapel, Chuck Smith and Greg Laurie (net worth approx 20M)
