“Curse of Oak Island” is my guilty pleasure. I enjoy seeing their discoveries and the length to which they go to verify their age. I also appreciate the various projects from the coffer dam, exploration of the Swamp and the comprehensive drilling program.
I admire the crew’s patience in dealing with the pace and restrictions of the Nova Scotia’s permitting process.
I enjoy Rick’s passion for the project and Marty’s need for “more data”. The brothers do a great job of blending curiosity with pragmatism.
More objective (i.e. critical) observations include:
• Gary Drayon use of the word “mate” is akin to a “valley girls” use of the word “like”. Absolutely maddening! Gary: I know it is baked into your DNA but could you say it every third sentence instead of every sentence!
• If rehashing previously aired information was edited out, each episode would last 9 minutes. Therefore watching the the series is like walking all the way across Canada “heel to toe”. Progress is so, so, so slow.
• I know Season 10 has been filmed and “in the can” but I (and I suspect many others) need real, meaningful discovery this season or I will probably tune out and wait 10 years to tune in for definitive progress. Sorry advertisers.
