I don’t get the hate for this. I nearly didn’t watch it as there were many ‘meh’ several ‘grrr’ and a few snotty nosed ‘don’t’ - the 5 star positives seemed like AI trying to up the score. This is an 80’s / 90’s Goonies family fun movie - that’s where it is set - it won’t win awards, it won’t become iconic as we have so many other things to distract us now. But if you’re a GenX and remember the Goonies, ‘Indie’ and other films of the time - that’s what this is - a family feel good movie. You’re not going to watch it twice, or 5 times like Tennet, the kids won’t record it on VCR and watch it until the tape dies, but if you’re looking for a couple of hours to snuggle up with your wife and kids with the worst word scripted being ‘arse’, then this is the two hours you’re looking for after Sunday lunch and before you realised your kids haven’t done their homework for Monday yet. You won’t waste your time having this movie on.
