Not based on a true story however, real enough to make you believe it is, and is based on the best selling book of the same name. The plot: main protagonist detective Aaron Falk (Eric Bana), 1 of 4 good friends, is dared to return to his (now) droughted hometown for the funeral of Luke, another of the 4 friends, who supposedly took his, one of children's and his wife's lives. Aaron returns unwillingly, with a haunting reminder of a past and fatal incident involving his 3rd good friend Ellie, who drowned in a local river. Old tensions resurface and anger mounts as Aaron's face becomes a common sighting in the town again. But Aaron stays with growing doubt and suspicion that his friend Luke's death was probably murder. He prelongs his unwanted stay in the town in a bid to find clues and answers.
