Just watched it last night and I wasted 2-1/2 hours of my life. I had high hopes that it would at the very least be entertaining. Unfortunately I was bored, unimpressed and disappointed. It seemed like one of those early productions from the SYFY Channel where they sacrifice either special effects or good writing in order to meet the budget. In this case, it was a little of both. There’s a scene where the younger team goes into the matrix with Neo and they run into “Agent Smith”. A fight breaks out and Smith announces that there are some “old” programs he found. Next thing you know, the Merovingian appears and he’s just shouting out a bunch of nonsense while everyone else is fighting what appears to be his gang. It looked like a bunch of colorful homeless people fighting with a bunch of well dressed young adults. There’s this weird thing that they did in this movie that I felt was pretty lame. They used a lot of old footage from the previous movies to remind you of certain characters. It felt forced and cheap. Come to think of it, this movie felt EXACTLY like when you’re looking for a trailer on YouTube and you watch those fan made trailers. I felt bad for Keanu. He must have agreed to do this as a favor to the director and to provide work for everyone involved with the movie. He even cut his hair in order to film the scenes outside of the Matrix. Now we need to wait for him to grow his hair out in order to start milking the next John Wick movie. I really wish I hadn’t seen this movie. I am really disappointed. Sorry, but it sucked.
