Key Alifi

For a low budget , the movie is great. But there is a lot of issues. The most glaring is that why all of them whent down to the planet ? At least half of the crew had to stay at the orbit. And if something happens, they go back ( to bring the data, and most importantly, the orbital ship itself, it is very expensive ship and could be reused for multiple missions) .Second most glaring is that they had only one communication module, while it well known that even for robotic missions , NASA always puts 4 backups communication modules. There is plenty of little things that bugged me as well, like the lack of commandor on the ship. The lack of safety protocols, too emotional astronauts etc. I can't say that I hated the movie. If you love Sci Fi , it is entertaining for one evening.

As usual, Hollywood is bad when it comes to adaptations and respect to the source material. But at least back a decade they tried to do a proper casting ( unlike nowadays, that usually leave only names from the source) . I am not big fan of the book. Yes, it is not perfect , but descent read for one evening. Movie, on the other hand, is worse. And I am not a petty person, I understand that there has to be differences between adaptation and the book. But not a differences that change the point of the story, mind you. In the book we see a strong , but tired woman, that gave everything to her family. In the movie we see hysterical and abusive woman, that easily loosing it, and in the middle of the movie you starting to fear for her family when they are alone with her. In the book we see a lawyer, that has to fight his own demons , he is a central character to the story. In the movie he is irrelevant, for the most part. In the book Kate is bit more manipulative and selfish. In the movie it kinda looks like that she giving up because of tragic love story , and understands how much everyone did for her . She is way more selfless on the screen. In the books Kate is not the main character. Anna is. Anna and Kempbell . They are the main characters. Not in the movie. In the movie their stories are stolen by ...banalities. Book at least trying to raise the problems like bodily autonomy of underage, of hard choices , how much parents actually " own " their children in the story of Anna. Teaches that trust and risk and openness in the relationships are the most important, in the story of Kempbell. Movie is just a sad story of a slowly dying Kate and her mother that goes insane in a ugly way. Unlike majority of those that both familiar with the book and the movie, I will not criticize the movie for different ending. It is actually " fix me " situation, where movie ending is more logical , and how it supposed to be. Overall, movie gets 3 points from me. For relatively good acting and a cute dog .

I would rename this movie to " Ruined potential". Yes, the movie is kinda scary. Yes, the triggers and director work and acting is not bad at all. Uncanny valley effect , jump scares , music , all good. What bad is as usual - scenario. I don't remember a single original movie in the last decade that would have solid writing. Why I am angry at this one? Because in the beginning the movie positioning itself as deep , as a story about trauma and PTSD , and the manifestation of PTSD and how humans give it to each other. At some point you think - Woha! It is brilliant .....but not for long , cause the ending is predictable MEH. You want to scream - Why ????? You would expect that if the main character is a psychiatrist, she would have more tools against this PTSD monster. You would expect psychological games, that she will find a unique way to break the cycle and defeat it in some amazing and educational manner. Or learns to survive with it ( that would be beyond brilliant ) But of course not. Why even trying , if the dumb audience will eat anything? I don't believe that good horror or psychological thriller is even possible those days. Hell, I would write better stories sitting on the toilet.

Great casting, acting , plus mostly historically accurate. Although it was hard to believe that Moshe Dayan would puke watching hard battle from above, despite that I enjoyed that they showed him more human. The only criticism I have is that for an Israeli that can envision and imagine the strategy and the maps and the military lingo on the radio and the mood, the movie is great, but for a non Israeli , it would be hard to understand the details.What would be easier to understand is the existential horror Israel faced. The hard decisions. The feel of it all. Overall, the movie was good.
