My appreciation of D.O.’s talents and artistic abilities increased a hundredfold. He is not a mere idol. He deserved much more respect as an actor. This movie was superbly directed; cinematography was outstanding; contrast between the ugliness of war and the hopes each of the dancers’ hold within their hearts was starkly and clearly shown. When I saw DO started dancing in the final performance, I just felt my throat constricting and tears were welling up in my eyes. Hats off to you, D.O!!! More power to you.

I have always been fascinated by the acting prowess of Yoo Ah In and in this movie, he didn’t disappoint. Burning, though not necessarily a masterpiece, is a gripping story about the vast difference in the social class of Korea - Black is pitch black and white is pure and unblemished white, the director presenting it in a laid-back, slow paced and languorous manner until it punches you in your gut at the finale. Highly recommended.
