All the big critics are reluctantly saying good things about this movie, but frankly, I loved it. As a guy who loves warships and WW2 era stuff, this may not be entirely realistic, like the submarines coming up for air RIGHT NEXT TO THE CONVOY. But I loved it, the action and the dialogue are on point. And I haven't heard anyone complain about the lingo used in the conning tower throughout the movie either, in fact, I have heard praise since the film uses a lot of usually unheard phrases like "meet her". CGI was used heavily in this movie from what I heard, but everything came out beautifully and its hard to tell a difference between the Keeling and an actual Fletcher-class destroyer, really well-done research and CGI I think.
All in all, I think it's a great movie whether you are a massive history buff or a casual moviegoer who wants a thrill. Shame it's only available on Apple + though, you can tell it was made for movie theaters. Because of COVID-19 this movie really got waysided which would have affected income from the movie. I doubt this is gonna make an impact on people or inspire other movie makers to make action movies about warships. Which personally I think would be a great genre because WW2 alone has a lot of interesting and insane stories just when it comes to the naval war, let alone other wars where ships were used.
