Stephen Dorff has always caught my attention and this part is no exception. It is a good representation, I think, of the life of an abused person. Technically it is very well done and held my attention from the very beginning to the very end.

Excellently written and wonderfully educational, this is one of my favorite novels - and it's true. Too many posters are mentioned that it's about women and women's lives, but of course when a book is by a man about men and men's lives, the fact of its manliness need not be mentioned. Same here. This book is about Chinese history over at least three generations and I very highly recommend it.
