I was terribly disappointed! Edie Falco deserves a much better script than these writers provided. I found the plot choppy and disconnected; but, worse, the characters lacked flesh and blood. Having taught creative writing classes for many years,
I tried to have students adhere to the following adage: “Stay in your own backyard. Write what you know. The plot is only the skeleton; flesh the bones with reality.” For me, the first episode of “Tommy” was full of broken bones, with characters lacking full-blooded personae. I wish a distinguished and accomplished writer would write Edie Falco a script worthy of her talent.
