The game is good in concept but poor in execution. The look of the game is pretty good. The suits feel large. When your pilot is outside of them and getting in them you really see the scale of how massive these machines are. There are some unique features that I do like however it is not enough to salvage this game. Do not be fooled into thinking this is an open world full range Gundam game in the model of DC online or Star Trek online. It is not. It is far smaller in scale. You have one small base to access everything. The customizations are limited for pilots and mobile suits. There is no way that I know of to build your own suit from scratch and/or fully customize your mobile suit outside of getting leveled up weapons. New suits Can only be obtained by drop boxes outside of the initial case you receive from starting the game and completing the tutorial.
This is a multiplayer only game. There is no single player story or battle mode, there is no way to level up and gain money outside of Online multiplayer battles. There is a mission counter though however you have to level up through multiplayer battles to gain any access to it. You will spend a lot of time waiting in lobbies to be plugged into battles only for them to drop/log out.
There is no item or mode to repair your suit outside of exiting the mobile suit and doing a manual repair. While I like this feature in that it makes the game feel more real what I don’t like is that this can take up to two minutes during battle Making both you and your suit easy targets. The targeting system is kind of horrible. There is no auto lock, shots frequently miss and overheat causing a delay in shot times. Melee attacks are more or less two or three swings that usually leave you open for attack and there is no manual or auto blocking and shields. Gone are the high pace back-and-forth battles in which suit type and weapons played a key role victory. Suit movements feel clunky both on ground and in Space.
Speaking of the suits, All mobile suits feel the same. With such a variety of designs and features, you would expect more variety outside of the outer shell and weapons. There are no unique animations, abilities and movements from the different suits. A Gundam will move and fight the same as a Zaku in space. This is the equivalent of having a Corvette run the same as a Ford Pinto. This makes battles feel quite repetitive and boring. To see what the customization and battle system could be Bandai needs to look no further than its own Gundam Breaker 3.
If you are looking for a great Gundam game this is not it. It is repetitive and at times lazy. The developers started off with a good idea and as I stated I do like the scale of the machines however there are other games that does this premise far better. MS Saga, the old school PlayStation 2 game, does a far better job at giving you all of the things this game lacks. It gives you A compelling story, English voice acting, full customizations on mobile suits, an rpg like open world, everything. Personally if I were Bandai I would put resources into remaking that game for modern systems or making ones like it then wasting time on this lackluster attention grabber. This game all in all is a disappointment and I would not recommend it in any capacity for anyone. Consider it deleted.
