I came into this film knowing nothing, and had someone encouraging me to go with them. I am struggling to even write this without tears thinking of the applications to all of our lives we can find in the movie.
I didn't like all parts of this movie at all, and that's good. There were parts that made me upset for my own personal BS reasons - and I think that's a perfect indicator of a quality film. I was happy, sad, angry, and conflicted on so many different levels as the couple made life-altering decisions throughout the film.
This was also quite funny - A24 has a way of making some of the weirdest movies I've ever seen, and I'm not complaining.
I became especially upset as they walked around the town, seeing local shopkeepers and not having much of a plan after just meeting. It's those moments in the day to day that we neglect. Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh did an unbelievable job here.
This was a reminder that no matter who you might've known in a past life or a future one, choosing to love them and cherishing every moment of your time together is the best thing we can do for the world and those around us. People hurt us badly. They can also lift us up, and find us at the most unexpected moments.
