This movie just came out on April 2nd, 2023 and my wife and I went to the premiere. All the reviews from before this date are either about the trailer, or just the product of a disillusion mind.
Tommy Wiseau (The Room) has done it again, making a movie so delightfully Wiseau that it will be discussed in film nerd circles for decades to come. Big Shark takes place in New Orleans, where three brave firefighter heroes are the only ones who can stop a big shark--35 feet at least--who has a Slip-and-Slide style attack across the streets of New Orleans gobbling up unsuspecting folks.
They are the only ones to do it. The Feds can't do it. Police? The cops are running scared apparently. To quote the film,"Cowboys don't cry, heroes don't die, they sparkle in the sky..."
Tommy Wiseau is Freddy and he leads his best friends, Georgie and Tim, on the quest to find the shark eggs in the Mississippi river's breeding ground, and finally stop the big shark. This film certainly sparkles.
This movie is magically strange, although sometimes a bit tangential. I believe the big shark is a metaphor for the bad thoughts that stop people from following their dreams, but with Wiseau, the movies can be interpreted to mean whatever you want. It is definitely a fun movie, and any fan of "The Room" would be hard pressed to miss this gem.
