I thought this was quite delightful and a welcome change from tired & formulaic film-making. It is original, funny (especially if you like British humour), light-heartedly gory, and easy to watch. I can understand why it doesn't have universal appeal... but if you like quirky, then check this out.

I am enjoying this so much, although some of it (the corruption and self-interest possible in government) is dark. I haven't read any of the books, nor have I seen Oldman in his previous spy outing... and I don't find any difficulty following the series. I have read spy novels in the past about the british secret service so that probably helps with context. Even with no history at all, the characters are great and I appreciate how aspects of their motivations keep being revealed.
