All the actors are great and they don't miss a beat when it comes to their roles. The mystery is enough to keep me hooked for now and Wednesday's roommate is charming in an overbearing way but I had to ask myself, why are all the POC people against the protagonist or otherwise portrayed in a negative light? It took me til episode 3 to look into it and alas the director is Tim Burton. Notoriously white and notoriously white suburbia centric. I'm not sure if I'd like to continue watching especially when there are other Wednesday inspired creations that are filled with more dark humor and wit unlike Burton's rendition. Like Burton, the show is more goth aesthetic and doesn't have anything substantial to sink your teeth into. Many of Wednesday's quips in the show are word play, edgy threats of violence and a reluctance to interact. Nothing that digs into society's norms, nothing thought provoking, horrofic or funny. Nothing confrontational or counter culture or dark humor. I'm a bit upset that a big name like Burton was given license to direct Wednesday Addams instead of smaller creators that could've done more justice to Wednesday Addams. She deserved better than another safe, suburbian, rich, white, "normie" man.
I know most people, especially fans of Burton, will disagree but I thought I might as well throw some questions and thoughts out there instead of mindlessly consuming this guy's stuff.
