Got it the day it came out, played around 6 hrs straight, got boring way too fast.
Was a big fan of 2, absolutely loved it and I’ve played it fully 3 times now, but Legion feels like a random game trying to be watch dogs. You can tell they were going for a more ‘scenic route’, making the visuals absolutely amazing then not caring for lip syncing, character building, sound design etc. The driving in the game is all right, the camera turns with you when you turn which I found quite annoying, it feels really slippy and turns are narrow. My biggest problem was the song choices for cars. The songs on the radios for 2 were amazing, I could listen to every radio station and have at least 4-5 songs I could enjoy. Now with Legion, the number of songs feels really small, and there’s only 3 songs I like on there out of every radio station. Of course the music isn’t only for me and others may enjoy it, but the fact I was disappointed over 2 having such a small library of songs while loving quite a lot of them is a bit insulting now that I’ve seen what Legion has gave me. Another thing is how your main goal is to recruit people, but they give you nothing to really want to do it. You talk to the person you want to recruit, they give you a little background story, then once you do what they asked they join. It’s the same for every one and it gets repetitive horribly fast. I’ve tried picking up the game again over the past day only to get bored of doing the same ‘break into this, hack this, okay now get out’ just to do another or to bore myself by recruiting people in the span of at least an hour or two. The thing that kept me so attached to 2 was, again, characters. I’d much rather a small group of people I can relate and interact with rather than an expansive ‘you can recruit anyone’ excuse, quality over quantity. In 2, the story went from taking down a big corporation, to doing fun smaller missions like cyberdriver, to hunting down smaller stuff like gangs but they had equal importance to the story, then it all connects back to the original goal. So far Legion feels like you have only one goal, take down big bad corporation, they throw you into a map which feels both large and cramped at the same time, and just overfill the rest of the game with repetitive side missions. Overall, I’m staying to see where the story goes. I was interested in the story during the first mission and it kind of all went downhill from there. I would’ve much much rather just played as Dalton through the whole game, I would’ve liked to see more of him and Bagley rather than some random people to fill in the void, and the scenery is lovely but you’re too busy doing the missions to really notice it. The rest of it’s meh at best. I remember how I was so excited to play this back in March, and when it got delayed I had a few doubts this wouldn’t be as good as I thought but pushed it away in hopes that a delay means Ubi would be trying to improve a few things, kind of wish I listened to myself because although it’s lovely to see and play another Watch Dogs game, I really could’ve went without it and kept my £60.
