After the experimental nature of Ghosteen et all, driven by the band’s desire to ‘do things differently’, this album is a return to form for Cave and the bad Seeds. Thunderous, raw, reverential and at times bliss laden this album is, in my opinion, his best yet. Present are Warren Ellis’s experimental loops from the last two albums but here they are twined with some good old fashioned Cave cantations from yesteryear. The result is pulsating and emotional bitter sweet joy.
