I never write reviews, but for this movie, I had to. I absolutely loved Suicide Squad (2016). I was excited for this addition and I've waited years for a sequel. I was expecting a lot of vulgar language and graphic deaths because it is rated R, but I did not expect this. I know a lot of these reviews are using big words, but don't expect too much of that from me.
**SPOILERS**
The opening scene (before they went to the island) felt so cheesy. Until Amanda Waller appeared, I couldn't tell if it was just another advertisement or the actual movie. The death of the bird was unnecessary, but I wasn't too crushed about it. When they were all walking towards the new member of the team, it felt...awful. I can't even describe my thoughts on that. It just didn't feel like it belonged in the movie. I saw it in the trailer and just thought it was a way to introduce the characters, but I didn't expect it to be a part of the movie. Going on from that, when they went on the island, I couldn't believe my eyes. I wasn't upset from Pete Davidson's character dying, but I wasn't expecting it. I figured he was going to last the entire movie. When I saw Boomerang die.. I said to myself "No, this isn't really happening. This is just someone's dream or them thinking what would happen." It felt so rushed and I wanted to leave right then and there. Boomerang's death was so unnecessary, especially to have him die in the very beginning like that. Some of the new characters shown could've had so much potential. It just felt like they were trying to make their deaths be some sort of comedy and it flopped. Then, they killed Savant for fleeing because he knew he was going to die. It just didn't feel real. Then, you have Amanda Waller's team betting on their death. I hated it. I decided to give it a chance, but I had to google who died and who didn't. I already saw Boomerang die, I had to make sure Harley didn't. I saw Rick Flag's name on the list. I don't understand why the director thought killing off 2 main characters from the original movie would be a great idea. If they want to make another movie, good luck, because Rick Flag was the entire focal point of both movies. If another movie is made, I doubt I'll watch it. I walked out when they were rescuing Flag. The deaths were graphic and disgusting. The nudity wasn't needed, the excessive cursing was over-the-top. I don't care about cursing in movies, but it felt like they were just trying to put as many words as they could into this. It felt like my old high school hallway.
If you want to watch this movie, knowing that your favorite characters will die, have fun. The only enjoyable aspect of this movie were the cute rats to distract from what was actually happening and I hope she gets her own movie with that power. I went on a long rant after we left the movie theater and we read all of the 1 star reviews, laughing and agreeing. I won't even acknowledge that this movie exists. Such a waste of money and time.
