SPOILER FREE REVIEW Oh my God, this was phenomenal. Honestly I was expecting a poor-quality, creatively bankrupt Disney-eque live action remake but this movie was just… perfect. Chef’s kiss. The CGI was beautiful and the designs of the dragons were both true to the originals and yet distinctly unique! I can’t even tell if they used real or fake fire, or both. The acting was amazing too — finally a cast that’s not just a bunch of celebrities! Hiccup and Astrid’s actors had great chemistry together and fit their roles so well. My favourite had to be the dad — he played his role so well and his performance was all around peak. I definitely reccomend this movie for both families and a more mature audience! 10/10

Pretty mid. The author uses apostrophes instead of quotation marks for some reason in text and it’s infuriating. And I know it’s a “stylistic” choice to make the boys spell with poor grammar, but it’s just annoying as it’s poorly executed and takes up a significant amount of the story (unlike in something like flowers for algernon or the colour purple). The grammar when other characters, the ones from the west, are talking isn’t even correct either! Over all disappointing and annoying to read.
