An incredibly important work rendering in heart-wrenching detail the fragility of a 'just society' through the eyes of a child. I'm amazed at Roth's skill in bringing characters out of the page - terrifyingly, and an enormous compliment to Roth's skill and understanding, at no point in this book could I say, 'no, something like this couldn't happen'. Once again, I'm in awe of the immense talent and moral example set by Roth.
