Horrible movie in every aspect.
The plot: nevermind, there is none. I could forgive the decision to completely obfuscate the cause of the civil war since apparently the point was to portray war journalists as heroes who explode the plight of people caught in the middle of no-good-guys-to-be-seen type wars. Instead, the journalists just go on a totally random road trip where they show themselves to be gore-porn war tourists who will gladly risk each other’s lives if they can get an “exciting” photo of someone bleeding. For real, there is not one moment where the main characters serve any purpose beyond getting off on the “excitement” of watching others kill each other.
The characters: forced, uninteresting, and for the young protagonist, selfish and stupid girl boss archetype.
The filming: it thinks it’s incredible cinematography but it’s just disjointed, particularly by the insane over use of stopping the action to flash the still shot of the millions of photos the characters take.
The only way anyone could like this is if they are so obsessively anti Trump that they just love watching the thinly veiled fantasy of shooting him unceremoniously in the Oval Office.
Don’t waste your time on this one
