Spoilers ahead obviously
As expected of a Makoto Shinkai film, it exceeded my expectations. It featured endearing characters and some returning ones that although played little role in the film, was enough to stir the entire crowd in the cinema.
I got a sense that Shinkai plays with his audience with his films, deliberately adding loose threads to mingle with their imagination. Though it had conspicuous similarities with Your Name in terms of its second half, it is to be noted that its execution exceeded its predecessor.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and something that I would be remembering for years to come. Looking forward to future additions to Shinkai's cinematic universe.
