Um....it's not good lol. I'm legit shocked by all of these positive reviews and am gonna have to assume they're from a very young audience. The characters are shallow and underdeveloped and they try to compensate for that with annoying sound effects that make the show feel less sincere and more cheesy. The dragginess people complain about in the Chinese version was just plot and character development, which this version seems to completely lack. The plot points legit come out of nowhere and their close friendships dont even make sense. In the original, even tho it was much slower moving, they did such a good job at making you understand their close bond and feel strongly for each and every character.
The only real plus is that the main lead is less stoic (which he is annoyingly so in the chinese original...why do Chinese dramas love emotionless MLs?). But the female lead overreacts constantly and nothing she says or does feels genuine. The acting all around isn't great imo~ but that is likely more due to bad direction than it is that the actors dont have talent.
I was excited for the remake because I speak korean so and Korean production value is generally higher, but they took what was a beautifully developed and sincere coming of age story and made it cheesy and bland. I also have to say that I hate that thing that korean and american dramas do where every character is super attractive lol. I kinda like that the chinese version had more realistic looking high schoolers.
Super disappointing remake. Probably only worth watching if you're 12~15. Do watch the cdrama tho. It's slow but beautiful.
