I wanted to like it. Really adore the anime, manga and the games so pretty immersed in the story and characters. I am not normally a fan of live action adaptations but the shining reviews made me want to give it a chance. I actually like the majority of the casting though the acticting was good it lacked an element of intensity and emotion at points but I feel it is within the ability of the actors and maybe this will improve. Although Zoror and Usopp felt wrong and a little flat. Garp was good not as booming as I expexted though. I didn't like the hodgepodge mashup of starting storylines it felt really rushed and a little lackluster. Looking at it separately from the inspiration it's not bad but if you are big One Piece fan approach this with an open mind as a unique show separate from the anime and manga.
